ICC Profile Inspector - Quick Start Guide
Profiling
Profiling can be done easily using ChromaChecker which provides an ICC Profile to be loaded into your workflow.
ChromaCheecker provides the ICC profile but more importantly, ensures that the instrument and printing device are in optimal condition prior to profiling. For this reason, it is highly recommended that you first baseline your instruments to verify the condition and provide a history of printing device measurements to ensure the printer can perform in a stable, uniform, and repeatable way.
With your subscription, Chromachecker offers the ability to benchmark and baseline your printer to ensure the ICC Profile will be effective. Otherwise, as we see in many locations having difficulty profiling it is the condition and management of the printing device that is making the production chase profile.
Note: ChromaChecker also provides Curves to compliment the ICC Profile in production. This allows for a reduced patch list to adjust the curve making it efficient to be performed during production. ICC Profiling is more detailed but requires the press condition to be altered and is not recommended during peak times unless you have a previous reference profile that can be iterated as a basis.
Step By Step
- Complete a review of the press condition over time so that it is uniform and repeatable using ChromaChecker Data Analytics
- Calibrate the printing device
- Ensure all Color Management is shut off and in a linear state
- Print the profile chart such as the TC1617 provided by Idealliance or CC224 for instruments with larger apetures.
- Measure the printed result using ChromaChecker Capture or upload the spectral data result to ChromaChecker
- Use Print Inspector and drill into the file using the magnifier glass icon
- Select "ICC Profile"
- Complete the dialog box fields to match your workflow best practice. This takes into account the rip configuration, ink in use, and substrate.
- Generate the ICC Profile and load into the output area of the workflow
