Barcode Reader
Scan the chart, not the keyboard.
The Barcode Reader plugin supports USB and serial barcode readers, including the ChromaChecker CC-2D, for identifying charts and signing operators in.
What it does for you
Typing a chart identifier is slow and it is where transcription errors come from - one wrong digit and a measurement is filed against the wrong reference. A scan cannot mistype.
Signing in by scanning a badge also means the person at the instrument is the person on the record, which is what an audit will ask.
What you can do
- Read chart identifiers straight into the measurement workflow
- Operator sign-in by scanning a badge
- Works with USB HID readers and serial readers
- Live test view, so you can see what the reader is sending
Getting started
Enable Barcode Reader in the Plugin Manager and connect the reader. A USB HID reader needs no configuration; a serial reader has port settings in the plugin's dialog.
Part of ChromaChecker CC Capture. Plugins are enabled in Plugins -> Plugin Manager. This page describes the plugin as of CC Capture 4.0.570.
