Fingerprint
Write down the press condition you fought to achieve.
A fingerprint is the documented, locked-down state of a press: the substrate, the anilox and plate on every station, the inks, the press settings, and the colour it produced. Fingerprint keeps those records in a database on your own machine.
What it does for you
Every plant has the same story - a job ran beautifully in March and nobody can reproduce it in September, because what made it work lived in one person's memory. A fingerprint is that memory, written down while it is fresh and locked so it cannot drift.
Approved records are immutable: once a fingerprint is approved it cannot be edited, only superseded. That is what makes it evidence rather than notes.
What you can do
- Per-channel tooling - anilox, plate, mounting tape, doctor blade - with the manufacturer dictionaries filled in for you
- Substrate, including an optional second make-ready stock
- Ink sequence, including reverse printing, and custom station orders
- Press settings, and the converting that follows: lamination, varnish, calendering
- Named and house colours, with the ones you standardise marked as such
- Measurements against aim - hue angle deviation per channel alongside density, because two inks at the same density can be five degrees apart
- Set-up templates, so the next job of the same kind starts 80 % filled in
Getting started
Enable Fingerprint in the Plugin Manager and open it from the toolbar. Start a new record, or start from a template if you have one. The database is a single file on this computer - it is yours, and it is not sent anywhere.
