Gloss Meter

Gloss is a number, not an opinion.

The Gloss Meter plugin connects a gloss meter to CC Capture and records readings at 20°, 60° and 85°.

What it does for you

"Matt enough" is a conversation; 12.4 GU at 60° is a specification. Coatings, laminates and varnishes are sold on gloss, and gloss is exactly the property two people looking at the same sheet will describe differently.

Reading it into the same record as the colour means the finish is documented with everything else, not on a separate sticky note.

What you can do

  • Measure at 20°, 60° and 85°
  • Calibrate against the meter's own standard
  • Readings feed straight into the record - a fingerprint's substrate and varnish sections take them directly

Getting started

Enable Gloss Meter in the Plugin Manager, connect the meter over USB, and calibrate it before the first measurement of a session.

Part of ChromaChecker CC Capture. Plugins are enabled in Plugins -> Plugin Manager. This page describes the plugin as of CC Capture 4.0.570.
